David Linley knows good design. The legendary designer founded LINLEY back in 1985, a company which is world-renowned for its design and creation of fine furniture and interiors. David Linley's first collection was unveiled at Christies that very year, followed by the launch of the first showroom opening. David’s mother, who is the late Princess Margaret, sister to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, encouraged his creativity with her passion and talent for music and art and over the years David has wr...View more

We may not have seen the sun for a while, but with all the rain at least our gardens are looking lush. But green is not just at home in the garden: it was definitely the hot colour at this year’s Stockholm Furniture Fair 2012 and is a great way to freshen up any interior...
It’s a calming colour, which is why stars wait in the ‘green room’ before going on stage or out in front of TV cameras. Associated with nature and even life, it is also considered a healing colour.

Sometimes someone makes you an offer you just can’t refuse. Like last week when the people at design house JAB Anstoetz asked if I’d like to visit the showroom for a coffee, just around the corner from The Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour. It’s a hub for all interior stylists, designers and hommies in general.
I had heard of JAB of course. As a stylist I’m always on the look out for the next new look and as a result have seen various beautiful fabric swatches over the years to say the least. But, when I stepped into the JAB sh...View more

With the film version of the Great Gatsby due to be released this year, the Spring/Summer 2012 catwalks were awash with silver screen starlets in homage to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic 1920’s story. The Art Deco trend is a great look for interiors and makes a stylish backdrop for roaring twenties revelry. To create a flapper girl kitchen, think feather ruffles, black bead trims and a subtle colour palette of black, chrome and champagne silver. This is the era of decadence, so mix up th...View more

Marmite was invented in the late 19th century, when German scientist Justus von Liebig found out that brewer's yeast could be concentrated, bottled and eaten. Who would have thought that this extract would achieve such impressive status today in the UK, Australia and New Zealand?
Marmite is to the UK, what Warhol’s Campbell's Soup Cans are to the US. To celebrate the iconic Marmite brand, these Pop Art inspired printed box canvases and framed prints have been produced, ready to spread out onto your wall. The depiction is retro, but the colou...View more

It's four weeks until Christmas, which means it can be a stressful time of year. If you’re not rushing between parties you’re frantically trying to get all your shopping done in time for the main event. And that means your book is left unread, your magazine pile is overflowing, and your Sky+ box is ready to explode with unwatched episodes of X Factor. In the midst of all of this it's important to take some time out for yourself, half an hour to sit down, put your feet up, and catch up on all the culture you’ve be...View more

Fetish style is rocking the fashion houses right now, as seen in the latest collections by Marc Jacobs, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton, and this powerful unapologetic trend seems to have dived straight into homewares too. The twist on this fetish feel at home mixes black sheer and sleek leather finishes with a few stud details and a splash of intricate, and mostly flocked, pattern. It's a sassy look that creates a dramatic mood, which is perfect for evening entertaining. The fetish trend is a little bit goth, a little bit gho...View more

Chintz has a lot to answer for. It single-handedly ruined floral prints as if it was some sort of industrial weedkiller instead of a pretty daisy design. Suddenly florals looked fussy, old fashioned and like something you might find in the back of Granny’s bureau. But then teatime made a comeback, and all those old tea sets nestling, well, in the back of Granny’s bureau, suddenly became collectable again. And like a well-tended garden, florals are b...View more
