It's always great to find a new place to eat that looks as gorgeous as the food tastes. A friend of mine invited me to have lunch with her at a tea room in Dulwich recently. She told me it was called ‘Le Chandelier’ and it has loads of beautiful vintage chandeliers hanging from the ceiling that you can buy. Now, I love a chandelier. I would have one in every room in my house if my husband would let me, so I was really looking forward to seeing how they made this work in a tea room.
When I arrived I was ama...View more

Sometimes someone makes you an offer you just can’t refuse. Like last week when the people at design house JAB Anstoetz asked if I’d like to visit the showroom for a coffee, just around the corner from The Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour. It’s a hub for all interior stylists, designers and hommies in general.
I had heard of JAB of course. As a stylist I’m always on the look out for the next new look and as a result have seen various beautiful fabric swatches over the years to say the least. But, when I stepped into the JAB sh...View more

I’ve always wanted to create a bespoke desk in my home office. So, I recently bought two old iron Singer sewing machine table bases and painted them in a black Hammerite paint to disguise the rust. But that’s where I got stuck. You see, I’d been looking for the perfect shade of grey to paint the two-metre worktop that would be my desktop. I searched high and low but my hunt was in vain. That was however until I discovered Annie Sloan’s newest paint collection.
Annie Sloane has been painting for over 40 ye...

If you like your food with a bit of extra hot flavour then Dan May’s new book The Red Hot Chilli Cookbook is a must. It’s packed full of clever hot - and not so hot - recipes, all made with different types of chilli. It includes Chilli chocolate chunk and ginger cookies, Thai beef noodle soup, amazing sauces, salsas and marinades as well as starters and main meals. Flicking through the book, this Whole Roast Salmon with Salsa Verde recipe caught my eye. Perfect for any family gathering on a su...View more

When it comes to wallpapering a boy’s bedroom the choices are pretty limited (unless you like cartoon cowboys, pirates or Ben 10!) This was the problem Victoria Cramsie faced when it was time to leave her 6-year-old twin son’s nursery themed bedroom behind. Not wanting to redecorate again in a couple of years she set about finding the perfect design, but with little luck. She wanted a classic yet iconic wallpaper with a hand-made look. Eventually she gave up and decided to design what she was looking fo...View more

There’s something about retro style that brings a smile to my face - I’m not sure if it’s because it reminds me of my childhood or just that those classic shapes and styles are bang on trend right now. And I love the clever use of green and teal and mixes of brown and yellow that are gracing homewares. Ten years ago they would have looked dated and frumpy, but now they look modern and fresh. It’s easy to get the look right without completely redecorating...View more
