Extravagant pattern and jewel-box colour is at the heart of designer Tricia Guild’s distinctive work. Her range of homewares and interior designs are refreshing and imaginative and seem to capture the Alice in Wonderland magic of summer all year round. In her book, Tricia Guild: A Certain Style, Colour, Pattern and Space, she explores a variety of interior looks to suit a range of tastes – from English Manor House charm to New York City Loft - no look is left unexplored with each one receiving the unmistakable Guild treatment, perfect for livening up a gloomy January, when you've got your detox shake in hand.
Florals are used joyfully in much of her work. One of the most eye-catching looks in her book that uses florals to perfection has to be Parisian Pied-a-Terre. ‘The layering of pattern adds to the air of romantic luxury in the apartment, with damasks, printed and woven silks and florals framing windows, lining walls and piled high in cushions on chairs and sofas,’ says Tricia Guild. Lime-green woven silk damask and the gorgeous floral print with gold embellishments brings the outside in all year round.
This season get the look using lime, mustard and pink colourways, which work beautifully to fire up the look in your living room and add sunny style. As for the macaroons, do you need an excuse to have them to hand?
If a makeover isn't on the cards for your home this season, you might want to add a touch of Tricia Guild beauty to your room with one of her Lime Flower or Peony candles, on promotion at ACHICA until Thursday 26 January 2012. And her book, A Certain Style by Tricia Guild (Quadrille, £40, hardback, from all good bookshops), is well worth a browse - if not for the delightful presentation and glorious room ideas themselves.
