Be bold with BOLD colour this spring

With spring just around the corner, now’s a great time to let the fabrics in your home get in on the big trend this season - BOLD colour. Fuchsia pinks, lime greens and crisp whites mix well to add a refreshing sense of spring to any room. Cushions with these punchy hues work well together and adding one here and there is the perfect way to revamp a dull space in an instant.

Colour really is key when you’re updating a space - even classic damask patterns can be given an on-trend look with the right colour combinations. These shades won’t date, especially when mixed up with another pattern in a similar colour - whether that’s a stripe or a floral. The bright pink on white in the Murani collection from Kai is a great example of how these colours can work together beautifully. This new Murani collection includes gorgeous prints and embroidered fabrics in cotton and linen blends. I discovered Kai a few years ago. It’s one of those ‘where have you been my whole career?’ moments. I was originally sent a few swatches out of the blue from its newest collection and when I spoke to the press officer about a shoot I was planning, she said she would send me a few sample books to look through. I was pleasantly surprised by the range of designs, shades and textures available.

If bold fuchsia pink colour isn’t your cup of tea, then distressed textures of azure, chartreuse, cobalt and damson are equally attractive this year, and there’s a range of fabrics out there that can be seamlessly incorporated into your room scheme, with wonderful results. It always surprises me how incredibly different the same pattern of a fabric can look in a different shade – a great excuse to update the décor regularly I say!
