Scents and sensibility

This week I have been mainly testing out beautiful bath and beauty ranges, in particular room diffusers, to see which ones I rate. When it comes to room diffusers it’s a question of how quickly they run out of oil (the more natural the oil the better) when you turn over the reeds, how strong the scent is, whether the scent is nice and natural or a bit overpowering and whether the room it is easily filled with the aroma.

Diffusers are a great way of adding subtle scent to a home without having one of those ugly plastic plug-in things. I always have one in my porch so that anyone who pops round is instantly greeted with a delicious scent from the moment they walk through the door. Heyland & Whittle's Citrus and Lavender scent is particularly fresh and welcoming.

My top tip? When using a diffuser turn the reeds over once a week to increase the amount of scent in your home. Just turn a few sticks at a time for a subtle fragrance or to make the oil last longer.

My all time favorite is the Tuberosa by Dr Vranjies. It’s at the top of the price scale but for good reason. It lasts for months and always smells great. They have just brought out a new floral range inspired by gardens and landscapes of Tuscany including LIMONE E MANDARINO - Lemon & Mandarin, ARANCIO E UVA ROSSO - Orange & Red Grape, IRIS E GINESTRA - Iris & Broom Flowers and MELOGRANO & MENTA - Pomegranate & Mint. Who can resist such delicious fragrances? From Senti Online

Other great ones I have tested are the beautifully packaged Fig Tree diffuser by Orla Kiely Diffuser, the Green Tea Scented Space Fragrance Diffuser from John Lewis and the Lily Flame diffuser from Mango Fandango at One Brown Cow.

Heyland & Whittle's stunning range is also at ACHICA from 17 June 2011. So now there’s no excuse not to have a scented home…
