Shore style – sun, sea and soft furnishings…

You packed your rusty portable barbecue, got the sand out of your windbreaker and battled the traffic to escape to the seaside for the weekend. Then you spill ice cream on your shorts, step on some seaweed and get rained into the pub. Fortunately, the high street has a much better way of making sure life’s a beach, with coastal chic being one of the biggest trends of the season. With its neutral whites and blues, it’s calming without being cold, and feels sunny inside even if it isn’t out. Or nod to the trend with a fluro tropical motif if you like your colours bold and beautiful. For anyone who’d rather have a stay-cation this summer, this look is a shore thing...

Go tongue and groovy with this modern coastal look. Laura Ashley do similar beds, and Fair Wind Fair Trade has a good collection of beachy cushions (above).
