Oh My Gucci – I refuse to participate in a recession

Call me irresponsible - yep, it's my middle name, but today I'm loving my new 'I Refuse To Participate In A Recession' tote bag from Alphabet Bags. Fun aren't they? Just when I thought I had enough tote bags piled up under the stairs there's always room for one more, right? Alphabet Bags was set up in 2008 by business partners and couple Hayley and Lucas, who share a passion for all things 'nice'.  The original launch collection comprised 26 cotton totes screen printed wi...View more

Make room for bold colour and big floral blooms

When I was first asked by ACHICA Living to do a guest blog I was over the moon and I knew immediately what I was going to write about. Anyone who reads my blog or the articles that I write for various magazines and websites will know that I am a bit of an interior design geek…ok, that is an understatement. If you must know I’m a massive interiors geek. So it made sense for me to write a post on my favourite interiors trends in the industry right now and some of the products a...View more

Relish The Rookery boutique hotel

This week, I took in the delights of The Rookery. The boutique hotel blends in so well to its cosy corner of Clerkenwell that you’d never know it was there. Stepping over its threshold, though, is like crossing a time barrier across the decades and finding yourself back in Georgian England.

This small but perfectly formed boutique hotel is the brainchild of Peter McKay and Douglas Blain, both members of the Spitalfield Trust, a charity dedicated to restoring Georgian ...View more

Fab furniture for fido

Can dog furniture really be this fancy? Yes! These rather comfy looking dog beds by Sky Pet Products at ACHICA made me smile this morning. They look more stylish than the battered old IKEA sofa I've got at home, that's for sure. The Chester & Wells Richmond Dog Bed in Chocolate (pictured above) is made form brown faux leather with an inner cushion and wooden feet.  View more

Battersea Power Station goes pop art

I've always been a fan of Battersea Power Station, ever since I saw Morrissey play there in 1997 (nevermind trouble loving you Mozza, or shoplifters of the world uniting, what about this amazing building we're in?). Battersea Power Station is not something you really stumble across - the derelict monumental bruiser of a building can be seen looming moodily and magnificently over London at every turn. But, today I stumbled across these wonderful framed pop-art giclee prints of it by Jayson L...View more

Kylie cupcakes at Cox Cookies & Cake

I just can't get these Kylie cupcakes out of my head. I hear Kylie's in town and to celebrate (any excuse for cake) I thought I'd take a stroll down to the wonderful Cox Cookies & Cake shop in Soho as I heard they're selling special-edition Kylie cupcakes all week. The Kylie cake is a sumptuous strawberry cupcake smothered in pink candy floss flavoured frosting and topped with a fuchsia glittered white chocolate K. To quote Miranda's mother in Miranda: 'Su...View more

Stationery by Nina Ricci, William Morris, Nina Campbell and Penny Kennedy

It was refreshing to read Mike Leigh's interview in The Observer yesterday, where he stated that he is emphatically not on Facebook and doesn't use Twitter. And that if he writes, 'it's A4 with a pencil and then A4 with a Pentel 67', which he's been using since the 60s. Good old-fashioned stationery is great isn't it? Sometimes it'...View more
